The resources industry is constantly in flux, with various skills going in and out of demand as markets change and mineral bodies are discovered. In order to stay at an advantage when mining employment opportunities shift, upskilling in related trades increases the likelihood of better contracts. Employers of all sizes can see the benefits of hiring a candidate with diverse talents.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it”
Right now, skilled labour is stretched in WA, so Aston is partnering with resource companies to deliver mining jobs training to overcome skills shortages in specific areas. We’ve recently opened up applications for our Drill Fitter Upskill Program, a 2-week intensive program which will be available to 8 qualified HD Mechanics each month until June 2019.
Developed in partnership with one of our well-respected mining industry clients, you’ll learn everything you need for mining employment as a Drill Fitter, via simulations and practical sessions. Those who successfully complete this mining jobs training will have the opportunity for employment in a Pilbara-based position on a 2:1 or 8:6 roster, depending on availability.
Working with a leading international supplier of Rock Excavation equipment, participants will learn what’s required on new builds and service maintenance, including works on rotary blasthole, surface, production and exploration drill rigs. All sessions will be completed at a Perth Airport location.
